Learning the Ropes: A good start
To anyone who has read my last blog post or seen me swing a golf club, boy am I sorry. I probably looked like I had the balance of a seahorse and shanked the heck out of the ball.
Over the course of the pandemic, golf was one of the only activities my buddies and I could do together, so we figured we would give it a try. Honestly, if our town didn’t take down all of the basketball rims, I might not have gotten into this game. However, I am glad that I did.
It was funny, a week or two ago Khal posted a Tiktok on our Peacock Golf account of my swing with a poll asking,
“Do I need lessons?”
And of the 449 responses, 372 responded with a resounding “Yes”. So Murph and Khal ended up signing me up for 6 lessons as a gift for getting to embarrass me a little bit over Tiktok. Never in my mind, I thought that I would be able to count golf lessons as a ~business expense~.
So last Sunday I had my first lesson and it was awesome. My trainer is starting me out with my small game on the green and working up from that. Apparently, for months my grip was too strong and I had no clue, so that was a pretty easy fix out of the gate.
It was a pretty good feeling to go to the range and be absolutely crushing the ball. Rumor has it a couple of my shots still haven’t even dropped yet. Here soon I will be giving Murph and Khal a run for their money on the course. This blog is kicking off my new series, Learning the Ropes, so stay tuned for the journey.
Keep on, Keepin' on,
